What is Art Unlimited?

Passion for pictures

Since March 1981, products have been released under the name of Art Unlimited. Passion for pictures; Art Unlimited emerged from that and Art Unlimited has taken such a flight. People love pictures and symbols that they purchase and exchange via (greeting) cards and posters: as attention, signal or gadget to mark a special moment or feeling. Art Unlimited shares this enthusiasm, constantly incorporates new images and publishes the best of them.

More than 20,000 different images in the collection

Art Unlimited has now issued more than 20 thousand images, of which over 300 million were sold in 35 countries. Art Unlimited collaborates with 19 hundred artists from home and abroad. From Picasso to Fiep Westendorp, Jeroen Henneman and Dick Bruna. 2,000 new titles are added every year. Decisive for the choice is the personal feeling of founder and publisher Jos Smit. With the simple logic: "If I like it, then there will be more who like it".

Art Unlimited's vision on art

Art Unlimited is not only aiming at images that promise top sales. The ideal of distributing art led to collaboration with nearly one hundred museums, including the Kröller-Müller Museum, the Groninger Museum, the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), the National Gallery of Art (Washington) and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. The most important works of art are published under the brand name Art Unlimited on postcards as well as posters. There too, the pursuit of "toppers" in the sense of unique images is of a unique quality.

Jos Smit went on the market for the first time in 1981 with an improvised series of postcards. The company strives for optimum rationalization and a conscious application of marketing techniques. Without losing sight of the essence: the emotions and associations that a card or poster can evoke.

That means that the drive at Art Unlimited remains the same: a passion for pictures
